Welcome, to Out of the Fire. We are an Intermediate to Advanced Harry Potter Roleplay site, set twenty four years after the books. This obviously means that there are spoilers, for any of you not up to date with the story. We encourage all potential members to take a look around and read through the student handbook, and the student guide, and if you like the look of us, go ahead and register! =)

Harry Potter and all of it's content belong to J.K Rowling and Warner Bros, and we do not intend to break any copyright laws, and take no credit for the wonderful world they have created for us to play in.
All new members and potential members should come here before doing anything else on the site. Inside you will find everything you need to know before joining, e.g. the rules, story plot, a place for questions, etc.
This is where you post your application form. Take a look over the CANON list inside and either choose one of those, or create your own original adult character. A member of staff will look over your application and critique/deny/accept it as soon as possible. We try to check this board every day, so it shouldn't take too long.
It's always useful (and fun) to continue to develop your character, even after they've been created. So inside, we have all sorts of things to help make your character more three-dimensional, like Plot Pages, Thread Trackers, Claims, Journals and more...
Any information you might need about how life at Hogwarts goes can be found in here. This includes all sign up sheets for the likes of Lessons, Quidditch and Duelling Club, etc, as well as Job lists and other useful things.
So we have a nifty little spot in the sidebar for our monthly awards. If you fancy having your name up there, then this is the place to make sure it happens. Each month, there will be a nominating period, followed by voting, for each of the categories mentioned. So if you want to take part, keep an eye on this board! Also, any site announcements and news will be posted in here.
The entrance to the magical shopping community of Diagon Alley is located behind The Leaky Cauldron, the right combination of taps on the wall will open a small archway, welcoming you into another world...
A small, dark passageway at the end of Diagon Alley will lead you into dangerous territory. Filled with dark wizards and dark artefacts, Knockturn Alley is not for the faint of heart.
This beautiful, quaint little village just outside the castle, is one of the few wizarding villages in the country. Popular for school trips, there are plenty of shops here nestled amongst the tiny houses. And don't forget to check out the Shrieking Shack, don't get too close, though... it's rumoured to be haunted...
Make your way through the bustling train station to Platform Nine and Three Quarters. Make sure no Muggles spot you slipping through the barrier, though, that'd be a bit of a major clean-up job for the ministry. Stealth, would be the key word here. *hint hint*
Board the magnificent red steam engine and begin your journey to Hogwarts. Take advantage of the food trolley, as it's quite a long journey, and be sure to change into your school robes before you reach Hogsmeade Station.
First year students are required to travel across the lake to reach the castle before their sorting ceremony. Please be careful not to fall in, as the giant squid has been known to have bad moods in his time, and it's always quite a tragedy to lose new students so early in their schooling...
All students above first year travel by carriage from Hogsmeade Station to the castle. No fighting over carriages please, and if any first years are found trying to sneak into one, there will be trouble...
The Hogwarts dungeons are quite unpleasant, yet still, Potions lessons are held down here, and it is home to the Slytherin common room and dorms, so it's not unusual to find students milling about in the dank passages. There is a rather unpleasant, yet effective Detention hall located down here, also.
The basement, just below the ground floor of the castle, houses the kitchens and most notably, the Hufflepuff Common Room. It quite possibly has the cosiest atmosphere of all the floors in the castle, having a particularly homey feel about it.
The main level of the castle holds the Great Hall, with staircases leading to higher floors and down to the lower levels. Transfiguration lessons are also on this floor, as well as the Staff Room, but students aren't allowed in there, so I don't know why I'm telling you that...
ALL NEW STUDENTS MUST COME HERE TO POST IN THE SORTING CEREMONY!
The first floor of the castle is where you can find the classrooms for Muggle Studies, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and History of Magic, along with a few unused rooms that you can usually get away with using for spell practice or something.
The second floor of the castle never used to get used much, but was damaged greatly in the great Battle of Hogwarts, and rebuilt years later. It's rooms have been turned into training areas, where students learn self defence, which is now considered an important part of the curriculum after past events. There is a large hall on this floor that is very special to students and staff alike, as it holds artifacts and information about the war. Sort of a shrine, a place of respect for those who lost their lives protecting the castle.
(On a more shallow note, Moaning Myrtle's bathroom can be found here. I'd seriously advise you to hold it in until you can get to another floor...)
The third floor of the castle is probably one of the busiest floors in the building, housing the Hospital wing, the Trophy Room, Armor Gallery, a few secret passages, a forbidden corridor, and Charms lessons.
The fourth floor of the castle is home to the Library. There is also a set of student bathrooms here (not haunted by whining ghosts), and a rather abandoned corridor that might be useful for, erm... well, I'll let you decide what you want to use it for...
The fifth floor of the castle is special for a very perculiar reason. During the Battle of Hogwarts, a curse misfired, and turned the main corridor to glass. No one has ever found a way to reverse the spell, and so the Glass Corridor has become quite famous as one of the castle's more intriguing features. Aside from that, this floor is pretty quiet, which is why the Prefect's Bathroom can be found here nestled in amongst empty classrooms, one of which is used for Dueling Club.
The sixth floor of the castle is where Arithmancy and Ancient Runes classes take place, so it's mainly inhabited by the more intelligent students of the bunch, thus, the bathrooms are hardly used and so pretty spotless. Just so you know.
The seventh floor of the castle has quite a few storage rooms, along with a couple of secret passages, but, none are so interesting as the Room of Requirement, which also resides here, but is unknown to many in the castle...
The west tower of the castle. Home to the Gryffindor common room, which takes up most of the tower, and at the highest point, the atmospheric Divination classroom, which, you should be warned, always emits strange smells.
The east tower of the castle. Home to the serene Ravenclaw common room, the owlery (a bit noisy and crunchy underfoot), and the rather impressive Astronomy Tower, which is really only ever used at night.
The main courtyard at Hogwarts is vast, and usually overflowing with students between lessons and on weekends. It sits right beneath the clock tower, a small fountain in the middle and trees dotted about the egdes, providing much needed shade in the summer months.
Ahh, the Quidditch Pitch! All Quidditch matches and TRYOUTS are held here, along with Flying lessons for those wishing to learn how to handle a broom. And don't even try and break into the changing rooms to steal that snitch you've had your eye on... only team members have a key. ;]
The grounds at Hogwarts are vast, and it would probably take you days to explore just the parts closest to the castle, though it's always nice, on a sunny day, to spend some time lounging in the grass. Care of Magical Creatures lessons are held out here, and the Herbology Greenhouses are only a short walk from the castle.
The lake is a beautiful, yet dangerous sight to behold. Twinkling and glistening in the sunlight, it holds horrors beyond your wildest dreams. So before you take a dip, just think to yourself, "do I really want to be eaten alive by a giant squid...?"
The Whomping Willow was planted many moons ago, though not many know why, and often wonder as to the reason someone would place a huge, thrashing, deadly tree in the middle of a school... It seems like a great idea, no? 8/
The Forbidden Forest, is, well, forbidden for a reason. It would take you five minutes to get lost in there, and ten to be eaten, or killed, or seriously maimed by one of it's many creatures. But, please, if you're feeling reckless and stupid, feel free to explore.
