ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE
MYSELF
MYSELF
"Lily, the first thing we notice about you, is that you don't look twenty years of age..."
'Hahaha. I am told this all of the time. I know, I have a very young face. They say I will be grateful for this when I am much older, so we will see. I have to carry identification with me wherever I go, because I am questioned in most places. It can be a hassle, but I do relish my youth. I taker after my mama. She is also very young and beautiful for her age. I suppose we have what you would call "good genes".'
"You certainly do have exceptional genes. You're quite beautiful. Yet, we hear you don't have a boyfriend at this point in time..."
'How do you hear such things? I admit I am single. It is not that I am not interested. I am only human. Of course I find myself attracted to men a lot, but I have morals and ethics. I will never throw myself at a man. It is very unbecoming of a lady, and that is what I was raised to be. So for now I am happily unattached, and content to concentrate on my work and family and friends.
"And they are situated in Nice, in the South of France, correct?"
'Oui. I grew up there, and go back there with my younger sisters when they have their school holidays. It is a beautiful place. And not too far away from Cannes, so we sneak down there when the Muggles have that film festival of theirs, and have our pictures taken with their celebrities. A lot of our Muggle born friends here at Hogwarts get jealous of that, so I often promise them I will invite them along next year. It is possible. We could always work something out with Floo Powder, I am sure. I do not like going back on promises. It is terribly sad to let people's hopes down. I try not to do it where I can help it.'
"You work as a librarian at the castle, don't you? How did you get that job?"
'Well, it was available at the time my sisters wanted to transfer over to England, so I applied, and since I have quite good school grades from my time at Beaubatons, they gave me the position. It isn't exactly what I always imagined myself doing, but it is a way for me to be with my siblings and watch over them. I would hate to be kept from them for so long. It is definitely a sacrifice worth making, since we are very close and I get to see them every day, being based in the castle myself.'
"So, if this isn't what you wanted, what exactly did you imagine yourself doing as an adult?"
'Oh, something in fashion, maybe. I always loved clothes and pretty things. It would be nice to be able to design my own garments, or own my own boutique. A little quaint place by the sea. Maybe I could sell my dresses to those famous Muggles. Haha. It would be nice. Though I think it can be held off until my sisters leave school. I'm sure they would love to be involved. It could be a family project, or something along those lines. I would love to have them be a part of it. They are very special to me. Sooo, I save my money for that. That is my goal.'
"So you have a good bit of ambition, too..."
'Ahh, not so much ambition... I am a dreamer. In essence. I dream big and I dream often. A lot of the time they are silly things, that I know will never be a part of my reality, but in some cases, I know that I could make them come true. Who does not want that? To have their dreams come true? I think a life without them is a very dark, lonely place. And this dream, this simple little desire, I can actually have if I work hard enough. So why not, hmm? Nobody else is going to make it happen for me. I have enough of a dose of reality to realize that, at least. But, yes... I do love to dream.'
"You say you got good grades at Beaubatons. We assume this is because you are particularly intelligent? What was it like attending the French school?'
'Oh, it was wonderful! I loved every single second of it. Just the school itself, the building, was so beautiful it would take your breath away. Everybody there is so elegant and well-mannered as a rule, they have a lot of standards to keep and only the best students are accepted. Those who will uphold the school's reputation. It is a very nurturing place to be. Academically speaking, of course. I have always been sharp of mind, and excelling at lessons came naturally to me, and I enjoyed learning greatly. I still do, for that matter. I often find myself staying in the library after work and reading up on different things. It is fascinating to me to keep discovering new things about the world every day.'
"Tell us a little about what you like to do in your free time."
'My free time? You mean when I am not working? Well... let me see... I listen to music. I design clothes. I have so many sketchbooks filled with pictures of outfits that I would love to have. I spend a lot of time with my younger sisters, and I have made some very good friends within the staff here, and in the local town, Hogsmeade. They have this wonderful store there named "Gladrags" and they make things for you. It's a dream for me. Between you and me, I have splashed out a few times and had come custom-made things crafted up there for me. Heehee. I know, I know. It's expensive and I should be putting my money toward better things, but I just cannot resist! They are an inspiration to me. I even sometimes think about asking if I can help out there and assist them in making some of the garments, so I can get a little experience in the job. We will see.'
"Well, we wish you all the luck in the world with that. You're a lovely, sweet girl, it was nice to chat to you."
'Oh, merci! It is my pleasure, Monsieur. Au revoir!'
