Elena handed over 10 Sickles and 5 Knuts to the bartender and took her glass of red currant rum over to the window table she had grabbed earlier. Dressed in a most stunning deep crimson number that she had procured from Gladrags a few days ago, she had her wavy hair down, and her most comfortable heels on, in case the urge to dance won out, like it usually did.
She had arrived a little early for a change, and so saved a large enough table to fit her colleagues on. Tonight they were celebrating Professor Starling's new promotion to Head of Slytherin House, and Elena viewed it as an excellent opportunity to have a bit of fun and not have to be the sensible one in charge, like she did around the castle. For such a fiery, fun-loving character, it was difficult for her to be responsible and serious all of the time. Stifling, even, on one's personality. She wouldn't change her job for the world, but sometimes she needed to be young, herself.
Taking a well-earned sip of her drink, she settled herself at the table and took to watching through the window for signs of anyone from Hogwarts. She had invited quite a few people, and hoped some of them would turn up. Hell, even if they didn't, she would still make sure she and Avery had a good time. Elena was nothing, if not the life of the party. She could find fun in practically anything. Except for the old wizard in the corner. He kept giving her the eye, and Elena wished the others would hurry up and get there. She didn't want to have to embarrass the old man in front of everyone. Plus, he was a tad creepy.
