A new tradition that had cropped up over recent years at Hogwarts, was an End of Summer Party for the students and adults, alike. Set up to boost morale at the beginning of another school year, the lake plays host to this popular event, it's dark, glistening waters providing the perfect location for such a shindig.
Each year, the trees are enchanted with fairy lights, picnic tables are scattered about along with benches dotted around the edge of the lake. A music system is set up on one side of the designated site, playing all of the latest Magical Hits, as well as old classics from the likes of the Weird Sisters. Food and drink tables are piled high with all kinds of delectable things, as well as the added touch of small, empty bowls, which people can reach into and pull out anything they so desire at that moment - though there is an extra enchantment on them to stop people from pulling out any alcohol, so don't get any ideas.
The party starts in the afternoon, on the first Sunday of term, when the sun is still shining and students are able to have fun swimming in the lake and sunbathing until their heart's content. It's only once the sun sets, and the lights start to twinkle all around, that the real fun begins. So, grab your friends and head on down to the lake, today at 2pm, and let's get this party started!

Beau loved parties. Not because he was one of those overly sociable people, but he did like a good excuse to have fun with his friends in a situation where nobody could tell them they shouldn't be doing whatever it was they happened to be doing. The thing about the End of Summer Party, was that the staff members were in attendance, too, so it was difficult for things to get out of hand, really.
Still, there was nothing like an afternoon in the sun, surrounded by friends, and good music and food. Luckily, the sun had decided to shine with all it's might on the first Sunday of term, so Beau imagined the day was going to be even better than anyone had hoped. He had dressed for the occasion in a light, cotton shirt, the same shade of blue as his eyes, and beige shorts, deciding against wearing any kind of footwear, and opting for the barefoot, nature child look, instead. He had a pair of sunglasses sitting atop his mess of golden hair, the only other thing on his being was his wand, which sat in his pocket, just in case.
Sauntering slowly across the grounds, he could see a lot of students already there, scattered about by the lake, some sitting in the grass, others on blankets, making themselves little picnics, and some were even splashing about in the lake in bathing suits. Beau didn't think it would be too long before he was doing that, himself. He headed straight for one of the snack tables, and grabbed a cup, filling it with Pumpkin juice and taking a sip as he took in the scene. None of his friends were there yet, so he would just have to entertain himself for a while.

this world has only one sweet moment,-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- SET ASIDE FOR US [/font] Molly had absolutely no idea where had friends had run off to, but she didn't care, they were probably all oogling over those fifth year boys they thought were cute and to be honest, she'd had pretty much enough of it. Sure she loved hanging with her friends, but it probably wouldn't do her any harm to find some new friends too, some that weren't quite as boy obsessed as they were, well okay, maybe a little boy obsessed, but at least about older guys, not younger, more immature ones.
Finding a nice green spot on the grass, close to others but not so much that she was invading others privacy, Molly pulled her beach towel out of her bag. The afternoon was still young and she'd planned on getting a bit of sun and maybe going for a swim. Well more so the latter, she was dosed up with the highest sun screen she could find, there was no need for her to burn in the sun and match her hair. If that ever happened again she'd do what she did the first time and just stay under her bed covers until her skin resembled its usual self and not a tomato.
Flicking out her towel and letting it settle on the ground, Molly then set her bag down beside her and took a seat on her towel. With her legs stretched out in front of her, she rummaged through her little blue beach bag, popped on her sunglasses and just laid back, enjoying the warmth of the sun and deciding she would most definitely go for a swim soon, even if she was on her own.

Post by ROUX L'AMOUR on Jun 22, 2011 22:44:25 GMT
Roux was excited. The sun was shining, there was free food and drinks, and a perfectly good opportunity to have completely consequence-free fun with his friends. He had spent a bit of time finishing up homework in the common room in order to let his lunch settle so he wasn't sick, but now, a little later that he would have liked, he was headed for a day of absolute, top-class revelry. Well, that was the theory, and Roux tended to start things off with a bang.
For example, right at this very moment, as he hurtled across the grounds at full speed. There was nothing of the charming, thoughtful boy about him in that moment. He hooted loudly to his friends, most of whom were already down by the lake, if not swimming in it already. Leaping over other students who were lounging about in the grass, he ripped his pale green t-shirt off over his head, leaving himself in nothing but a pair of shorts, and threw it off to one side, taking a mighty leap into the icy waters, the cold hitting him like a brick wall.
With a wave of initial shock, he burst back up to the surface, gasping for air, laughter taking over as he realized that a lot of people were staring at him like he was crazy. Shaking his soaked hair out, he took another gulp of air before submerging himself again, pushing down, deeper into the lake. He needed to go further in from the shore, as long reeds tangled themselves around his body, wriggling free, he changed direction, squinting through the blackness for signs of life. Apparently there was a giant squid in there, but Roux had never seen it. Maybe today would be his (un)lucky day? He propelled himself further through the water.

Post by DELILAH EVERETT on Jun 23, 2011 6:56:52 GMT
There was two things that Delilah did best: socializing and observing. Sadly the two interfered with each other and made it difficult to do both at the same time. She loved hanging out with her friends, kicking back and enjoying the hot summer sun and in general, participating in all the usual festivities of the end of summer lake party. On the other hand though, she liked watching everything going on, finding just the right opportunities to snap a picture or two and seeing yet another successful Hogwarts party in action. She watched as a boy she recognized from her house and year run wildly towards the lake without a care in the world. It was almost as if she knew what would happen next, and she rushed towards the lake to get an action shot of him jumping into the lake, water splashing up all around him.
After a bit, she had gathered a few pictures of girls ogling shirtless guys, students goofing off by the lake, occasional picture of cute couples. She figured that was enough for now, and she wandered aimlessly around the lake with a small bowl of blueberries in one hand as she looked for her usual crowd to hang out with. The sun was high and the temperature hot. There was no more perfect of a day that they could of picked for this event. She thought about the previous years and how some of the students had managed to somehow sneak a bit of alcohol into the party once the sun set. Or perhaps the professors had always just looked the other way. Although she had always refused firewhiskey in the past, a part of her hoped it would make it's way into the party again this year. A drink or two couldn't hurt, after all, she was of age in the wizarding world now.
With her bathing suit underneath her yellow tank and jean shorts, she looked forward to taking a dip in the lake. For now, she gave up on her quest to find her group of friends, and sat along a sunnier portion of the lake. Her camera sat unattended beside her as she dipped her legs in the cool waters and lazily ate her little blue fruit. Hogwarts didn't often provide fresh blueberries, so she had to enjoy them while she could.
